Meet Our Physician and Family Nurse Practitioner
Nathan C. Ward, MD has been in practice since 1992. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He did his residency training through the U.S. Air Force and served as a staff physician for the U.S. Air Force for 13 years.
As a specialist in women’s healthcare, Dr. Ward is able to treat high risk pregnancies, infertility, and all types of gynecological problems. He has an emphasis on pelvis reconstructive surgery for women who suffer from pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence. For women who suffer from abnormally heavy periods (menorrhagia), Dr. Ward offers in-office endometrial ablation, a one-time, safe, simple procedure with a quick recovery time.
After living in many different parts of the country he left the USAF as a lieutenant Colonel and moved with his family back to Utah. He and his wife and seven children now reside in Bountiful.
Dr. Ward is affiliated with Lakeview Hospital.
Laura M Zaugg, FNP-BC received her Registered Nursing degree at Weber State University. After years of working as a nurse in community clinics and hospitals throughout Utah, she received her Masters degrees from the University of Utah. She is Board Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (http://www.nursecredentialing.org). As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), she is licensed to assess, diagnose and manage a broad range of health care needs. One distinctive component of NP training is a focus on individualized care. Laura's core philosophy focuses on patient education and illness prevention. She encourages patients to be active participants in their health care decisions.
Laura has previously practiced in a family practice office, allergy clinic, and urgent care center. Gynecological services provided include:
- Care pre and post menopause, including hormone replacement
- Prescriptions
- Birth control counseling and management (including Mirena IUD, Paraguard IUD, and the NuvaRing)
- Evaluation and treatment of common infections
- Health and wellness counseling
- Annual physical exams, including Pap smears
- Screening and referral for other health problems
- STD screening and follow-up
